Choir practice is at St Mary’s, North Petherton on Fridays at 6.30pm. On the 1st, 3rd and 4th Sundays they robe and lead worship from the choir stalls. The choir includes people of all ages and they sing a huge variety of music.
Alfred Jewel Ensemble
As well as enjoying a talented choir and organist the Alfred Jewel Benefice has many local musicians who make up an Ensemble. The Ensemble includes many instruments including violinists and flautists. They play at the Family Service on 2nd Sunday as well as at special concerts in the local churches.
There are bells at Durston, Thurloxton and North Petherton. (North Newton has chimes.) St Mary’s bell ringing practice is on Tuesday evenings at 7.30pm. The bells are rung here on most Sundays (and at the other churches on specific occasions.) Practice at St Giles’, Thurloxton is on 2nd and 4th Sundays from 7.30-pm.
